COLUMBUS –An early start time woke up the bats for both teams but a Clippers rally fell short Thursday as the Buffalo Bisons held on for a 13-10 win and a series sweep in front of a season-high 10,100 fans at Huntington Park.
Down 11-3 entering the bottom of the 6th inning, Columbus battled back with seven runs to cut the margin to one heading into the 8th but the Bisons’ Junior Lake put the game out of reach by grounding out to short, but bringing home two runs in the process.
It was a game that saw a combined 28 hits from the two teams and home runs from Lake and Jesus Montero for Buffalo and the Clippers’ Tyler Naquin and Yandy Diaz.
The Clippers will look to rebound Friday night as they will meet up with Durham for the first time this season. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
