Bob out for All-Star Game

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky will miss this weekend’s NHL All-Star game — on home ice — due to a lower-body injury he sustained Wednesday night in Winnipeg.

The Honda NHL All-Star Skills Competition is Saturday (7:00 p.m./NBCSN) and the Honda NHL All-Star Game is scheduled for Sunday (5:00 p.m./NBCSN)

Bobrovsky will be replaced by St. Louis goalie Brian Elliott.

The Blue Jackets did not reveal a timetable for Bobrovsky’s return.

Nick Foligno and Ryan Johansen remained on the roster as of early Friday morning.

Bobrovsky, selected to participate in his first All-Star game, has a 16-15-2 record with a 2.85 goals-against average, .913 save percentage and one shutout in 33 games this season. He landed awkwardly while making a stop in the second period of the game won 4-0 by the Jets.

The 2013 Vezina Trophy winner as the NHL’s top goalie, he underwent tests on Thursday afternoon.

“Bob” has gone 69-46-13 with a 2.39 goals-against average, .923 save percentage and 10 shutouts in 129 games with Columbus since the 2012-13 season.

Columbus is hosting the 2015 NHL All-Star festivities, January 24-25, marking a first for the city and the Blue Jackets.
