Body in Alum Creek Lake is Columbus man

DELAWARE – Delaware County authorities have identified a man whose body was discovered along the eastern shore of Alum Creek Lake Monday as a 37-year-old Columbus man who apparently died of a gunshot wound.

Investigators used fingerprints to identify Timothy Marcum body, which was found in a plastic storage container in the lake at about 8:30 a.m. Monday, Delaware County Sheriff Russell Martin said.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office is conducting the autopsy on the body and the final report will not be completed for several weeks but initial findings indicate Marcum was shot to death, Martin said.

A kayaker picking up trash and debris reported finding the body and crews worked Monday to recover the bin from the water and confirm that it contained a body.
