Bomb threat a hoax

COLUMBUS, Ohio – An overnight standoff on the Northeast Side that prompted street closures and evacuations was prompted by a man who apparently just wanted attention.

He got it.

Columbus SWAT officers and the bomb squad were called to a home at 2875 E. 12th Avenue after a man called to report that he was making explosives in his basement.

Streets were closed and home along N. Cassady Avenue were reportedly evacuated but, when the man was arrested around 4:30 a.m., authorities found no evidence of any explosives or bomb-=making equipment.
