HOUSTON, Texas – Buckeye defensive end Joey Bosa is one of four finalists for the Lombardi Award for college football’s best lineman or linebacker.
Clemson’s Vic Beasley, Washington’s Hau’oli Kikaha and Arizona’s Scooby Wright are also in the final four in line for the award, which will be given Dec. 10 by the Rotary Club of Houston.
Bosa, a sophomore, is fifth in the nation with 11 ½ sacks and has 17 tackles for losses. His walk-off sack in overtime – one of 2 ½ on the day – clinched Ohio State’s 31-24 overtime victory at Penn State. His three forced fumbles have led to 23 points this season.
Beasley, a defensive end, leads the Tigers with eight sacks and 14 ½ tackles for losses. Kikaha, who is a linebacker, is tied for first in the country with 16 ½ sacks and his 22 ½ tackles for losses leads the nation. Wright, who is also a linebacker, has 12 sacks and is second to Kikaha with 21 tackles for losses.
