CINCINNATI (AP) — Atlanta’s bullpen blew a two-run lead in the ninth inning, but Ender Inciarte hit a sacrifice fly in the 11th to rally the Atlanta Braves past the Reds 5-4, evening a series between the NL’s worst teams.
Nick Markakis started the winning rally with a single off Tony Cingrani (2-3) and took third on Jeff Francoeur’s single off Blake Wood. Inciarte’s fly to deep center broke the tie.
Mauricio Cabrera (1-0) got the last five outs for his first career win.
The Reds’ Cody Reed allowed two unearned runs and five hits in six innings.
Jay Bruce hit a two-run homer in the first inning off Tyrell Jenkins, who went six innings in his second major league start. It was Bruce’s 19th homer.
