Brewer debuts beer-oriented airline

COLUMBUS – Having already built the world’s first beer-themed hotels, Canal Winchester-based craft brewer BrewDog is aiming for the clouds by launching the world’s first craft beer airline next year with a round trip from Columbus to London.

The brewer bills the flight as “the ultimate immersive experience” for beer lovers who will board a chartered Boeing 767 where they will be served a unique beer tasting experience at 35,000 feet as they sample a limited-edition beer “specifically brewed to adapt to the reduction of taste and smell sensitivity in high altitudes, according to a release from the company.

The flight, scheduled between Feb. 21 and 25 in is available only to BrewDog’s 90,000 “equity punks,” individuals who contributed to the company’s crowd-funding investment program.

The maiden flight is the only one scheduled but the company says more may be added if there is enough interest.

BrewDog’s first craft beer hotel in the U.S., The DogHouse, opened this year in Canal Winchester.
