COLUMBUS – It’s Rivalry Week. That means no “M’s” on campus and no water in Mirror Lake.
Pieces of tape are used to “X” out all of the “M’s” on signs across the OSU campus as the school prepares for the regular-season finale at arch-rival Michigan.

“Out of an abundance of caution,” the water has been drained from Mirror Lake on South Campus to prevent students or others from jumping into the pond, a one-time tradition that ended after the death of a student in 2015.
Entering the lake, or empty lake basin, is both destructive and hazardous and is considered criminal trespassing. The Ohio State University Police Division is continuing to monitor the area, and public safety officials have discretion to determine appropriate enforcement action. -statement from the OSU police department
The Undergraduate Student Government voted to prohibit jumping into the shallow waters. Police say the lake will be refilled at a later date.

This year’s game will be a matchup of top 10 teams as Ohio State gained some ground on No. 1 LSU in The Associated Press college football poll and Michigan cracked the top 10.
The Buckeyes survived a test by holding off Penn State, 28-17, and the Wolverines – who struggled earlier in the season – have won their last four games.
LSU remained No. 1 for the fifth straight week in the AP Top 25 presented by Regions Bank.
Clemson is third, followed by Georgia and Alabama. Oregon dropped eight spots to No. 14. That allowed Utah to move up a spot to No. 6 and Oklahoma to No. 7.
Florida, Minnesota and Michigan round out the top 10.
The CFP rankings will be released on Tuesday and its committee has the final say on the semifinalists for the national championship on Dec. 3.
