PITTSBURGH (AP) — Browns defensive end Myles Garrett says he’ll be “frustrated as hell” for the next several weeks as he watches other players live their dreams during the playoffs.
Garrett finished with 16 sacks this season to match his franchise record, but another season of high expectations fell short for the Browns, who finished at 7-10 with one fewer win than last season and missed the playoffs for the second straight year.
The Browns concluded with a 28-14 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and missed a chance to sweep the season series from their rivals for the first time in 34 years.
Garrett says he’s optimistic about the future.
Deshaun Watson went 3-3 as Cleveland’s starter after being suspended for the first 11 games for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Watson says he’s been working hard but his game isn’t where it needs to be.
Kosar fired for placing bet
The Browns fired beloved former quarterback Bernie Kosar from their pregame radio broadcast before the season finale against Pittsburgh after he violated NFL policy by placing a wager earlier this week after sports gambling became legal in Ohio.
Kosar had made a ceremonial bet of $19,000 on the Browns to beat the rival Steelers. His jersey was No. 19 during his career in Cleveland.
The Browns said they had no choice but to relieve him of his duties.
The 59-year-old played nine seasons in Cleveland. He led the Browns to three AFC title game appearances.
