Browns lose to Raiders in windy Cleveland

CLEVELAND (AP) — Derek Carr threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Renfrow early in the fourth quarter and Daniel Carlson kicked three field goals as the Las Vegas Raiders beat the Browns 16-6 in a game played in windy, wintry conditions along Lake Erie.

Cleveland was plagued by dropped passes, costly penalties, a missed field goal and didn’t handle the windy, wintry conditions as well as the Raiders.

Carr’s strike to Renfrow with 14:53 to go was the game’s only TD and helped the Raiders bounce back after last week’s loss to Tampa Bay.

Using running back Josh Jacobs and a short passing game, Carr controlled the clock in the second half and kept the ball away from the Browns. Jacobs finished awith career-high 128 yards.

The loss was followed by jarring news that star defensive end Myles Garrett has a knee injury.

The NFL sacks leader got hurt in the first quarter. He briefly left the game, came back and played, but was not nearly as effective. The Browns only put him in on obvious passing downs in the second half.

Garrett will undergo an MRI on Monday as the Browns begin their bye week.
