CLEVELAND (AP) — Browns general manager John Dorsey says the team has not discussed former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as a possible coaching candidate.
Rice is an avid Browns fan and has leadership skills and while Dorsey admires her, he said she has not been considered for the position.
On her Facebook page, Rice wrote
“I love my Browns — and I know they will hire an experienced coach to take us to the next level…I’m not ready to coach but I would like to call a play or two next season if the Browns need ideas! And at no time will I call for a ‘prevent defense.'”
ESPN had reported that the team would like to interview Rice, who is an avid Browns fan and has visited the team’s headquarters on numerous occasions in recent years.
The Browns are in the early stages of another coaching search after firing Hue Jackson last month.
Dorsey has said he was open to hiring a woman.
Interim coach Gregg Williams will be interviewed following the season.
