COLUMBUS – A federal grand jury Thursday indicted a man authorities say is the Buckeye Bandit, responsible for more than two dozen bank robberies over the past three years.

Ikechi Emeaghara, 27, was indicted on charges he robbed a Key Bank on Frantz Road last month but police said he is also a suspect in approximately 30 holdups in the Central Ohio area dating back to 2013.
According to court documents, Emeaghara, entered the bank at about 10:00 a.m. brandishing what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded cash from the bank teller’s drawers.
He took the cash and fled the bank in a car, followed by Columbus police officers. When he pulled into a business parking lot, got out of the car and pointed a gun at the officers the officers shot and injured him.
If convicted, Emeaghara faces up to 25 years in prison, authorities said.
