Baldwin posted a statement on his Twitter feed where he said that he and his family “feel like it’s be better for me to step away from Ohio State.”
He was competing for the starting job in spring practice with Georgia transfer Justin Fields, who was the favorite to win the job.
Baldwin’s transfer will leave graduate transfer Chris Chugunov as Fields’ only backup. Chugunov played three season at West Virginia and one game at Rutgers before transferring to Ohio State in 2018.
