Buckeyes #2 in preseason poll

COLUMBUS – The Buckeyes are ranked no. 2 in The Associated Press preseason college football poll.

Alabama was No. 1 for the second straight season and third time in five years.

Ohio State opens the 2017 college football – its 128th – next week.

There are a number of ranked opponents on the Buckeyes schedule, beginning with the Sept. 9 matchup with No. 7 Oklahoma at Ohio Stadium. Penn State (Oct. 28) is No. 6 and Michigan (Nov. 25) is No. 11.

The Buckeyes will be led by a record number of captains in 2017: Nine, including quarterback J.T. Barrett, the program’s first three-time captain.

The others are H-back Parris Campbell, defensive end Jalyn Holmes, junior defensive end Sam Hubbard, defensive end Tyquan Lewis, receiver Terry McLaurin, center Billy Price, defensive tackle Tracy Sprinkle and linebacker Chris Worley.
