Buckeyes back in top 5

COLUMBUS – The Buckeyes slipped past Oklahoma for the fifth spot in the latest Associated Press college football poll.

Ohio State crushed in-state opponent Miami on Saturday while the Sooners were idle.

The poll’s top four teams remain the same, though the poll was given a good shake as seven ranked teams lost.

Defending-champion Clemson remains No. 1 after earning its 19th consecutive win. Alabama is second, followed by fellow SEC schools Georgia and LSU.

Auburn climbed one spot to seventh and Wisconsin moved up five places to eighth after clobbering previous No. 11 Michigan, which dropped to No. 20.

Florida was No. 9 and Notre Dame dropped three spots to No. 10 after losing at Georgia.
