Buckeyes Davis, Wade first-team All-Americans

COLUMBUS – Ohio State guard Wyatt Davis and cornerback Shaun Wade were named first team All-Americans by the Associated Press on Monday.

Davis has started 21 consecutive games at right guard for the Buckeyes and was named the Rimington-Pace Offensive Lineman of the Year in the Big Ten.

Wade, a fourth-year junior from Jacksonville, is tops among OSU defensive backs with 16 tackles and added three pass breakups and an interception in each of the last two games. Wade was selected as the Big Ten’s Woodson-Tatum Defensive Back of the Year

Haskell Garrett was named first team All-American by CBS Sports and Pro Football Focus. Wade and Davis also were first team All-Americans by ESPN.com earlier this month.

Heisman Trophy finalists Mac Jones and DeVonta Smith have been selected to The AP All-America team, leading a contingent of five Alabama players on the first-team offense.

Crimson Tide running back Najee Harris, tackle Alex Leatherwood and center Landon Dickerson are also first-team selections.

No. 1 Alabama is the first team since 1980 to place a quarterback, running back and receiver on the first team.

Cornerback Patrick Surtain II gives the Crimson Tide six first-team selections, the most in the nation.

No. 4 Notre Dame has two first-team All-Americans in offensive guard Aaron Banks and linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah.
