COLUMBUS – The Buckeyes are the No. 3 seed in the Sioux Falls Region of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament and will host No. 14-seed Buffalo in the opening round.

The other game in Columbus on Friday will pit No. 6 seed West Virginia against No. 11 seed Princeton at Noon. The winners will then meet on Sunday.

The Buckeyes are making their 23rd NCAA Tournament appearance and are playing in Columbus for the first time since 2011. Last year, Ohio State won its opening round game over James Madison before falling at the buzzer to host and No. 4 seed North Carolina.
Ohio State has an all-time record of 24-22 in the NCAA Tournament and has made seven Sweet 16 appearances.
The Buckeyes have advanced to the Elite Eight three times with its best run being a runner-up finish in 1993.
UConn’s run at an unprecedented fourth straight national championship will begin at home. The 32-0 Huskies are top overall seed in the women’s NCAA and potentially won’t have to leave the Nutmeg State until the Final Four, which is in Indianapolis this year starting April 3.
The UConn women, who have been a No. 1 seed for 10 straight years, open against 16-seed Robert Morris on Saturday at Storrs.
Joining the Huskies as the other No. 1 seeds are South Carolina, Notre Dame and Baylor.
