Buckeyes host Maryland in first home conference game of season

COLUMBUS – Buckeye fans attending tomorrow’s Homecoming game are encouraged to arrive early and allow plenty of time to get parked because construction projects continue in and around campus.

(7) OHIO STATE (4-1, 2-0 Big 10) vs. Maryland (4-1, 1-1)
Ohio Stadium; Saturday, Oct. 9, (Noon/FOX)

Former Ohio State football captains and a contingent of 2020 Tokyo Olympics Olympians with OSU ties will be recognized at the game.

The Buckeyes will try not to look ahead when Maryland comes to town as a three-touchdown underdog.

“Another big challenge for us, a conference game, first conference game at home and a good team. They have good skill, good athleticism, good quarterback, they’ve played some teams really, really tough,” Ohio State head coach Ryan Day said

The closest the Terps have to a quality win was West Virginia in Week 1 but they were blown out by Iowa 51-14 last week.

“We just throw that game out and go off of what we’ve seen in the past from them ’cause they’re dangerous,” Day said.

Quarterback C.J. Stroud has the Buckeyes rolling after some rough early going.

The freshman quarterback took awhile to get comfortable with coach Ryan Day’s offense and dealt with a sore shoulder.

Everything came together in a blowout win over Rutgers.
