Buckeyes limp into Big Ten tourney as No. 5 seed

COLUMBUS – After losing the final four regular-season games, the Buckeyes find themselves the fifth seed in the 2021 Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament, the conference announced Sunday.

Ohio State (18-8, 12-8 Big Ten) was once ranked as high as fourth in the AP Top 25 and was projected as a top seed in the NCAA tournament but went into a season-ending slump as the Buckeyes faced Top 10-ranked opponents in its last four games, falling to No. 7 in the AP rankings.

The Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament presented by SoFi will take place March 10-14 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Ohio State’s first tournament game will be Thursday, March 11, against the winner of the game between No. 13 seed Minnesota and No 12 Northwestern.

Michigan (19-3, 14-3) is the No. 1 seed for this year’s tournament after securing the outright Big Ten Championship.

Illinois (20-6, 16-4) earned the No. 2 seed while Iowa (20-7, 14-6) and Purdue (18-8, 13-6) earned the third and fourth seeds.

The Big Ten Network will televise the tournament’s first 10 games and CBS Sports will broadcast Saturday’s semifinals and the tournament final on March 14.
