Buckeyes move up in poll

COLUMBUS – Ohio State moved up a spot to No. 2 in one major college football polls following its 49-20 win over Michigan State in East Lansing on Saturday.

Georgia took back the top spot in The Associated Press Top 25 from Alabama. The Crimson Tide slid to No. 3 after escaping an upset bid at home by Texas A&M with Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Bryce Young sidelined by injury. Georgia thumped Auburn 42-10.

The undefeated Buckeyes received 20 first-place votes in the AP media survey while the Bulldogs received 32 and the Crimson Tide received 11.

Clemson overtook Michigan and moved up to No. 4 and the Wolverines fell one spot to No. 5.

The Buckeyes (6-0, 3-0) remained No. 3 in the coaches’ poll, where top five teams in the coaches’ poll, where the top five teams remained unchanged.

Ohio State has a bye week before Iowa visits Columbus on Oct. 22.

Stroud named Big Ten Offensive POW

Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud is the Big Ten Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Stroud threw for 361 yards and a school record-tying six touchdown passes as the Buckeyes picked up their first road win of the season at Michigan State on Saturday in East Lansing.

Stroud became the first Ohio State and Big Ten quarterback to throw for six TD passes in three different games.

Four other Big Ten quarterbacks have thrown six TD passes on two occasions: Buckeyes J.T. Barrett and Dwayne Haskins, Iowa’s Chuck Long and Purdue’s Drew Brees.
