Alabama is No. 1 in the first College Football Playoff rankings of the season, followed by Notre Dame, Clemson and the Buckeyes. Unbeaten Cincinnati is seventh, the best ranking for a non-Power Five team in the seven-year history of the selection committee’s rankings.
The Big Ten Eastern Division-leading Buckeyes travel to Champaign, Ill., to face the Illini for the 104th time, but the first time since 2017.
The Buckeyes lead the all-time series, which dates back to 1902, 68-30-4.
The Buckeyes and Illini play for the Illibuck Trophy, a carved wooden turtle that has been award to the winner of the Ohio State/Illinois game since 1925 and is the second oldest trophy exchanged in the Big Ten.

Ohio State announced Tuesday that it canceled the women’s basketball season opener against the University of Akron scheduled for Wednesday after Akron shared results of its most recent testing.
The decision did not affect the men’s game against Illinois State.
