COLUMBUS – Shut out of the NCAA tournament after falling to Michigan State in the Big Ten tournament, Ohio State is headed to the 2016 National Invitation Tournament as the No. 3 seed.
The Buckeyes (20-13) host No. 6 Akron (26-8) Tuesday (7:00 p.m./ESPN) at Value City Arena
The Buckeyes are playing in the NIT for the ninth time and are 18-7 all-time in the event, winning championships in 1986 and 2008.
