COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Buckeyes will begin defense of their national college football championship in prime time.
Ohio State’s 2015 season opener Sept. 7 at Virginia Tech’s at Lane Stadium will kick off at 8:00 p.m. and will be televised nationally on ESPN, the Big Ten Conference confirmed Friday.
It will be the final game of college football’s opening weekend.

The game will mark the Buckeyes’ first visit to Blacksburg and the first meeting with Virginia Tech since last season when the then-unranked Hokies came into Ohio Stadium and stunned the home team and the home crowd with 35-21 upset. It was the Buckeyes’ only loss of the season and snapped what was at the time college football’s longest regular season winning streak at 25 consecutive games.
For OSU, the game at Blacksburg will be the first road game at a non-neutral site since opening the 1998 season with a 34-17 win over the Mountaineers at West Virginia.
Ohio State will also open its 2016 season on the road: Sept. 2 at Indiana.
