COLUMBUS, Ohio – When future Ohio State football players strive to break records during their careers, a lot of the high-water marks they will aim for will be those established by the 2014 Buckeyes, who set or tied 74 team and individual marks on the way to their eighth national championship.

The team had already notched its place in history as the first College Football Playoff national champion and the first team in school, conference and national major-college football history to win 14 games.
In doing so, it matched or broke NCAA, Big Ten Conference, Big Ten championship game, bowl game and Ohio State records.
Just a few: Freshman quarterback J.T. Barrett’s conference record for total touchdowns with 45, a Big Ten record 24-game conference winning streak, and Ezekiel Elliott’s three 200-yard rushing games.
Urban Meyer’s team also set new Big Ten records for total offensive yards (7,674) and school records for passing yards (3,707) and touchdown passes with 42.
The Big Ten championship game win over of Wisconsin was the first shutout in that game’s history.
Elliott also powered to bowl game records of 246 rushing yards and four touchdowns in the 42-20 victory over Oregon.
