COLUMBUS (AP) — The Ohio State offense under new starting quarterback Kyle McCord sputtered in the season opener last week against rebuilding Indiana.
The run game was sluggish, and star receivers Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka combined for just five catches for 34 yards and no touchdowns in an underwhelming 23-3 win.
The No. 5 Buckeyes will try to iron out the offensive wrinkles against FCS school Youngstown State on Saturday at the Horseshoe.
It’s the first of two tune-up games Ohio State will get before going to South Bend to face No. 10 Notre Dame on Sept. 23.
