COLUMBUS – Ohio State and Michigan seem on a collision course for their annual showdown, this year at Ohio Stadium.
Michigan moved up to No 3 in The Associated Press college football poll, right behind the second-ranked Buckeyes, to give the Big Ten rivals their best combined ranking since the 2006 season, when they played the only 1-vs.-2 game in the series.
Alabama remained Number 1 on Sunday while Ohio State stayed second after an overtime victory against Wisconsin, which fell two spots to 10th.
The Wolverines moved up in an off week with Clemson slipping to fourth after their own overtime escape at home against North Carolina State.
Clemson and Michigan remained 3-4 in the Amway coaches’ poll. Washington was No. 5 in both polls
Michigan has its best ranking since it was No. 3 after losing to Ohio State in ’06.
There is another Top 10-ranked Big Ten team on the Buckeyes’ schedule: (8/9) Nebraska (6-0) on Nov. 5.
