Bucks get poll bump

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Saturday’s dominating win over Rutgers on Saturday and losses by some higher-ranked teams did little to help the Buckeyes in the major college football polls.

They moved up one spot to No. 12 in the USA Today coaches’ poll and remain No. 13 in the AP Top 25.

Ohio State (5-1, 2-0) travels to Penn State Saturday (8:00/ABC).

Losses by then-4th ranked Balor and No. 11 Oklahoma raised hopes Ohio State would move up a couple of spots in the polls, but fans were disappointed.

The previously unbeaten Bears fell from fourth to 12th in the USA Today poll and No. 13 in the AP after falling to West Virginia and Oklahoma fell to No. 17 in the AP Top 25 and 18 in the coaches’ poll after losing to Kansas State, which vaulted ahead of the Buckeyes to No. 11.

Mississippi State, Florida-St, Ole Miss and Alabama are the top four in both polls. Michigan State, which hosts the Buckeyes Nov. 8, was No. 5 in the coaches’ poll and Auburn was fifth in the AP poll.
