Bulls 9, Clippers 2

DURHAM, N.C. – The Durham Bulls clubbed 11 hits, including seven extra-base hits, in a 9-2 route over the Clippers at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

The Bulls blew the game open in the second inning, scoring five runs on four hits and two walks to go ahead 6-1.

Columbus got on the board in the top of the fourth with an RBI groundout from Jordan Smith and an RBI double by Bradley Zimmer.

Yonny Chirinos (2-0) earned the win for the Bulls while Clippers starter Shawn Morimando (2-4) took the loss with eight runs allowed on nine hits during his four innings pitched.

The Bulls and Clippers meet again Tuesday night in game two of the four-game series.
