COLUMBUS – Cameron Mitchell Restaurants is celebrating its 25th anniversary with donations of money, food and time to help those who struggle to find enough to eat.
Mitchell opened his first restaurant, Cameron’s American Bistro, in Worthington on Oct. 5, 1993, and since then the chain has grown to more than 30 different restaurants.
The company will mark the occasion donating cash to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank, box lunches to Serving Our Neighbors Ministries and the Homeless Families Foundation, and prepare hot meals at three local shelters.
The philanthropic contributions include a $25,000 donation presented to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank; distribution of 1,000 boxed lunches will be distributed to SON Ministries and the Homeless Families Foundation.
Associates will make hot meals at Lutheran Social Services SS Faith Mission, Faith on 8th and YMCA Van Buran shelter.
This is the latest in a series of recent charitable moves by the company, which has donated millions of dollars since 1993 through fundraisers and charity events. In February 2018, CMR pledged $2.5 million to Columbus State Community College to go toward its new 80,000 square foot state-of-the-art Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts building. Mitchell Hall is expected to be completed by fall 2019
CMR operates 32 restaurants under 15 different concepts, as well as 23 Rusty Bucket Restaurant & Tavern locations in six states.
