COLUMBUS – Two key freeway ramps in the campus are closing for the summer, the first one almost as soon as the last diploma is handed out at OSU’s spring commencement Sunday.
Monday May 7 through mid-August: The exit ramp from northbound State Route 315 to Medical Center Drive/King Avenue will be closed. Motorists may use Goodale St. to Neil Ave., or Lane Ave. to Olentangy River Rd.
Monday June 11 through late November: The entrance ramp from Cannon Drive and 12th Avenue to southbound SR 315 will be closed. Motorists may use Neil Ave. to exit this area of campus. Detour signs will be posted.
The closure is part of the first phase of a project to straighten and elevate Cannon Drive to provide future flood protection and open up 12 acres of developable land (see video above), enhancing green space in the Olentangy River corridor.
The project will also create a north-south connection between King and Lane Avenues.
The first phase of construction began in September and is expected to last through the fall of 2019.
