Cancer doc gets 1 year for child porn

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – A former top pediatric cancer doctor at OSU’s Wexner Medical Center has been sentenced to a year and one day in federal prison following his guilty plea to a charge of accessing child pornography.

Before sentencing Friday, Christopher Pelloski told the judge he had harmed children, shamed his family and burdened colleagues in the pediatric cancer field by committing a crime that meant he would never practice medicine again.

Pelloski was a radiation oncologist and director of the Pediatric Radiation Oncology Program at Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.

The government found no evidence he committed crimes with children under his care.

Pelloski said he hopes to get a job researching cancer cures and become an anti-child pornography advocate.

The judge said Pelloski’s case highlights the “mushrooming social phenomenon spawned by the … ocean of pornography … that circulates on the Internet.”
