Car crashes into Highway Patrol post

SANDUSKY – Troopers at the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Sandusky post did not have far to travel to find an accident scene earlier this week.

In fact, they were lucky none of them were in their conference room when a driver crashed through the wall Tuesday night.

The car veered off a road and crashed into the patrol post, damaging the walls and windows of the conference room, in addition to landscaping and a concrete sign, officials said.

Alcohol and speed are suspected to have contributed to the crash.

Troopers say the driver was not wearing a safety belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

Troopers provided medical aid on scene until EMS arrived, at which point he was transported to a hospital.

The accident is still under investigation.
