COLUMBUS – Freshman guard D.J. Carton says he will “temporarily step away” from the Ohio State men’s basketball team to deal with personal issues.
Head coach Chris Holtmann says Carton will miss the game Saturday vs. Indiana.
“D.J. remains a valued member of our program and we will continue to love and support him. Please respect the family’s privacy in this matter.” – Chris Holtmann, Ohio State head coach
Carton, from Bettendorf, Iowa, wrote on his Twitter account Thursday that he had been battling mental health issues for a couple of years and “I’m not 100% right now.”
He says he was issuing the statement in order to be transparent.
