A win would propel Columbus to the first Game 7 in franchise history.
“Things happen for a reason and I truly believe that. We’ll be back here for Game 7,” Tortorella vowed after the Bruins beat the Blue Jackets 4-3 in Saturday’s Game 5 and took a 3-2 lead in their Eastern Conference semifinal series.
David Pastrnak scored his second goal of the game with 1:28 left to cap a wild third period, and Tuukka Rask stopped 33 shots for the Bruins.
As some 13,000 fans watched on the big video screen at Nationwide Arena, the Blue Jackets rallied from a 3-1 deficit during a wild third period before Pastrnak beat Sergei Bobrovsky.
Pastrnak gave the Bruins a two-goal cushion midway through the final period, but the Jackets tied it on goals by Ryan Dzingel and Dean Kukan 1:51 apart.
David Krejci and Brad Marchand also scored and Rask got some help from the post when Matt Duchene stretched out to try to tip in the tying goal in with less than a minute remaining.
