CBJ trades Nikitin to Edmonton

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Blue Jackets have traded defenseman Nikita Nikitin to the Edmonton Oilers for a fifth-round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.

Columbus reclaims the selection it sent to Edmonton in exchange for defenseman Nick Schultz on March 5, general Manager Jarmo Kekalainen said.

Nikitin, 28, registered two goals and 13 assists for 15 points in 66 games last season and has tallied 12 goals and 44 assists in 158 games as a Blue Jacket.

Nikitin came to the Blue Jackets from St. Louis in exchange for defenseman Kris Russell on November 11, 2011.
