COLUMBUS – More than 4,000 pinwheels have been planted around Columbus to make us all think about abused and neglected children in central Ohio.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and the blue pinwheels symbolize cases of abuse and neglectand are being placed throughout the community in an effort to raise awareness about the effects of child abuse, Franklin County Children Services spokesman Bruce Cadwallader said.
There were 11, 410 cases of child abuse and neglect reported in Franklin County in 2015, the agency said.
Anyone who suspect a child is being abused is encouraged to call the FCCS 24-Hour Child Abuse Hotline at (614) 229-7000.
