COLUMBUS -Why does the chicken cross the road?
Officer Brad White, of the Columbus Division of Police, may have some insight after taking part in a small fowl roundup on the West Side Monday night.
White answered a report of a woman chasing a small brown chicken in the median of I-70 near I-270 at approximately 6:00 p.m.
He arrived to find an Ohio State University veterinary student named Jessie trying to corral the bird and keep it from wandering out into traffic.
Jessie told White that she was waiting on dusk so the bird would roost and be easier to capture, the officer said.
Along with the assistance from White and an Ohio Department of Transportation State Farm Freeway Safety Patrol officer, Jessie waited for the right opportunity and was able to make an apprehension.
The chicken is now safe at Jessie’s family’s farm, police said.
