COLUMBUS – Burrito chain Chipotle is entering the burger business this fall and is targeting central Ohio for its first location.
The company announced plans to launch a new chain called TastyMade and said its first restaurant would be located in Lancaster.
According to a company statement, TastyMade will concentrate just three American classics: burgers, fries and shakes.
Like Chipotle, the chain will use anti-biotic- and hormone-free beef and natural ingredients in its buns and hakes.
The move comes as Chipotle fights to recover from a sales slump brought on by an E. coli outbreak and norovirus cases while facing stiff competition in the fast-casual sector from chains like Five Guys and Smash Burger.
