COLUMBUS – The battle goes on against the West Nile virus and the mosquitoes that can spread it.
Heavy rains this summer have caused standing water in many areas of central Ohio and mosquitoes breed and multiply easily in such water.
Health officials urge residents to remove standing water around their property, including clearing debris from ditches, cutting small channels to help pooling water drain, or filling in holes and tire ruts with dirt, Columbus Public Health spokesman Jose Rodriguez said.
Meanwhile, Columbus and Franklin County crews will be spraying to control mosquitoes in several parts of the Columbus area this week:
