COLUMBUS – A double murder inside a Northeast Side duplex on New Year’s Eve raised the total number of homicides in Columbus in 2015 to 99.
Officers dispatched to 1812 Bucher Street shortly after noon on Thursday to check on the well-being of a resident Nelson Peel, 53, and Rodney Peel, 51, dead.
The investigation continues. A woman whose body was found in an East Side intersection Saturday night is the first homicide victim of 2016 in Columbus.
Officers responding to a reported shooting in the area of Fair and Napoleon Avenues at 7:30 p.m. Saturday found the woman lying on the road, homicide investigators said. She was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
The motive remains unknown.
The woman, described as white and in her 50s, had not been identified as of early Monday morning.
