City Hall reaches out to neighborhoods

COLUMBUS – Columbus City Hall’s renewed push to address the needs of the city’s neighborhoods continues Tuesday with another meeting between members of City Council and other officials.

Columbus City Council Community Meeting: Tuesday, June 21, 5:30 – 7:00 p.m., Marion Franklin Community Center, 2801 Lockbourne Road.

Council members making an effort to understand neighborhood issues have planned a series of meetings that are meant to give residents a chance to talk about diverse subjects in an informal, one-on-one setting with councilmembers, staff and department leadership.

The event comes less than a week after Mayor Andrew Ginther announced the appointment of Carla Williams-Scott as the director of his newly formed Department of Neighborhoods.

The new department consolidates a variety of services, including Neighborhood Pride, the Community Relations Commission, neighborhood liaisons and the 311 customer service center.

Williams-Scott currently serves as the Assistant Director of Economic Development and Community Partnerships for Franklin County and the People Works Workforce Development program, which helps low-income residents find full-time employment.
