City to host 9 NCAA championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Columbus will play host to some of the nation’s best college athletes over the next four years.

NCAA officials awarded the city nine championship events yesterday, including the Division I men’s gymnastics and women’s volleyball championships in 2016, Division I men’s volleyball and rifle championships in 2017 and the Division I women’s swimming finals in 2018.

Ohio State will be the host university of those championship events while Ohio Dominican University is hosting the Division II women’s basketball Elite Eight.

The city had previously been awarded Division I men’s basketball events as well as track and field, wrestling and lacrosse championships.
