COLUMBUS – Former Buckeye running back Maurice Clarett has a date in court Thursday to answer accusations that he was driving while impaired Sunday when another motorist reported a vehicle swerving erratically and nearly hitting others on I-71 in Morrow County.

The State Highway Patrol says Clarett was arrested Sunday afternoon on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. A patrol spokesman says Clarett was alone and refused a full sobriety test, resulting in his driver’s license being suspended for a year.
The 32-year-old from Canal Winchester didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment through the website where he advertises himself as an inspirational speaker after a stint in prison for robbery and other charges.
Before that, he helped the Buckeyes win the 2002 national championship.
