“Click It Or Ticket”

COLUMBUS, Ohio – In hopes of reducing the number of traffic fatalities during one of the busiest holiday weekends of the year, Ohio law enforcement agencies are joining the nationwide “Click It or Ticket” campaign to promote seat belt use.

“Click It or Ticket” is considered to be the most successful seat belt enforcement campaign, raising awareness of traffic safety and increasing the national seat belt usage rate.

Columbus and Dublin police will be among those increasing the presence of marked cruisers during the campaign period.

Despite Ohio being a “secondary law state,” where vehicles cannot be stopped because occupants are not wearing seat belts, officers will conduct strict enforcement of existing occupant restraint laws.

Columbus will use federal grant funds awarded by the Ohio Traffic Safety Office.
