CLEVELAND – During her first visit to Ohio since declaring her candidacy, Hillary Rodham Clinton drew parallels between terrorists and the Republican presidential candidates when it comes to their views on women.
At an event in Cleveland, she said that Republican efforts to cut access to health centers and opposition to abortion rights are “extreme” and likens it to “terrorist groups” and “people who don’t want to live in the modern world.”
The Republican National Committee quickly responded, accusing Clinton of equating her potential GOP opponents with terrorists and calls for her to apologize for “inflammatory rhetoric.”
Clinton says the policies of Republican presidential candidates are “out of date and out of touch.” She specifically cites candidates Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush and John Kasich.
Kasich’s campaign also responded, saying the former Secretary of State “launched misleading attacks immediately after polls show John Kasich as the only Republican who can turn swing states away from Hillary Clinton.”
“That Clinton is already gunning for Governor Kasich is a testament to the strength of his record in Ohio,” said a campaign statement issued Thursday.
The leader of Ohio’s GOP said Clinton will not be able to distract voters from a controversy over her use of a personal email server while she was Secretary of State.
“Ohioans are increasingly frustrated by Hillary Clinton’s failure to answer questions about her secret e-mail server. Voters here do not think she is honest or trustworthy,” said Ohio Republican Party Chairman Matt Borges.
In a recent Quinnipiac University poll, 66 percent of Ohio voters said they did not think Clinton was honest or trustworthy.
