Clipper 3, Indians 2

INDIANAPOLIS – Daniel Robertson saved a run with a diving catch in the third before delivering a go-ahead two-run single in the seventh to lead the Clippers past the Indianapolis Indians, 3-2, Sunday afternoon at Victory Field.

The win prevented a three-game sweep at the hands of the international League West Division leaders, but the Indians saw their lead over the Clippers grow to 6 ½ games and their magic number dwindle to three.

Columbus erased a 2-1 deficit with Robertson’s single in the seventh. Tyler Naquin started the rally with a double into the left-field corner and took third on a wild pitch as Richie Shaffer worked a walk. Another wild pitch allowed Shaffer to move to third before Robertson bounced his single into center with the infield drawn in.

The Clippers will play the final eight games of their 2017 regular season at Huntington Park, with back-to-back four-game series against IL West opponents Toledo and Louisville.
