Clippers 1, Bats 0

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Clippers beat the Louisville Bats 1-0 in the opener of their series Monday night, thanks to an early run.

The win brought the Clippers within one game of Indianapolis in the International League West division standings.

Jose Ramirez singled and stole second to start the game and Tyler Holt singled to give Columbus runners on the corners for Jesus Aguilar, who drove in Ramirez with a sacrifice fly for the game’s only run.

Gabriel Arias (4-2) pitched 7-2/3 innings for the win while Dylan Axelrod (6-8) went 7-1/3 innings, but gave up the run and took the loss.

Game two of the series starts at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday in Louisville.
