Clippers 1, Indians 0 (11)

COLUMBUS – Richie Shaffer drove home the lone run of the game with a bases-loaded infield single as the Clippers blanked the Indianapolis Indians, 1-0, in 11 innings on Monday night at Victory Field.

Adam Moore singled to center to start the inning and took third two batters later when Jordan Smith reached safely on a two-base throwing error by Tribe second baseman Christopher Bostick. An intentional walk was then issued to Giovanny Urshela.

With one out, reliever Brett McKinney induced a ground ball off the bat of Shaffer that carried past Jose Osuna at first base to Bostick deep in the hole, but McKinney failed to cover the bag at first in place of Osuna, resulting in no outs on the play. The grounder scored Moore from third.

Game 2 of the three-game series is Tuesday night.
