COLUMBUS – A day after being handcuffed by Louisville’s pitching staff, the Clippers exploded for 11 runs in the first five innings of a 12-4 win at Durham Thursday.
Jason Kipnis got the scoring started in the first inning with an RBI double and scored when Carlos Gonzalez parked a line drive over the wall in right center field.
The four-run 4th inning was highlighted by a three-run homer by Yu Change followed by a solo shot by Brandon Barnes.
Bobby Bradley hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning as the Clippers scored four more runs. They added one more in the sixth to take a 12-2 lead.
Sean Brady got the win for Columbus while Andrew Moore took the loss after being shelled for 7 runs in 3 1/3 innings.
The two teams continue their four-game series Friday.
