Clippers 13, Knights 9

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Clippers held off a ninth-inning rally to beat the Charlotte Knights 13-9 on Sunday.

It was the fifth win in their last six games, all on the road.

After a rain delay of over an hour, every Clippers starter reached safely and eight of nine recorded a hit. Every starter except leadoff man Jose Ramirez scored at least once.

The Clippers jumped out to a 6-0 lead and led 13-6 after their half of the ninth inning, but Charlotte scored three times in the bottom of the frame to narrow the gap.

Vinnie Pestano (2-3) was the winner after pitching one and one-third scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Tommy Hanson (3-5) gave up six runs in the loss.

The Clippers go for the series win in game three at Charlotte at 7:05 p.m. Monday.
